At The Arc Prince George’s County, we believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. That’s why we’re proud to offer the Blended Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) 2nd Edition course—an essential training designed to equip individuals with the skills to support someone experiencing a mental health crisis.
Delois A. Pearsall, MSW, LCSW-C, a licensed clinician, recently participated in the course and shared her thoughts:
“The MHFA course was excellent. As a clinician, I believe MHFA should be made widely accessible and is as essential as CPR.”
Her words highlight the urgent need for mental health awareness and crisis response training in our communities. Just as CPR empowers bystanders to assist someone experiencing a medical emergency, MHFA provides the knowledge and confidence to respond to mental health challenges—offering support, de-escalation techniques, and connection to professional help.
Through this interactive course, participants learn how to identify signs of mental illness, provide initial support, and guide individuals toward appropriate resources. Whether you’re a caregiver, educator, employer, or community member, MHFA equips you to make a difference when it matters most.
