Hire Our Workforce
Workforce Diversity is a Valuable Part of Business Culture
Many businesses in the Washington DC Metropolitan area have partnered with The Arc Prince George’s County to employ people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and have found them to be indispensable members of their workforce. The Arc employment staff also works with prospective employers to match the right job candidate to meet the employer’s needs. An Arc Job Trainer works with the new employee until both employer and employee are satisfied that they meet all the job requirements. Even though the employee is on the company’s payroll and receives company benefits, once hired the job trainer then stays connected to the employer and employee with drop-in support visits, perhaps on a weekly basis or as more training is necessary.
Local and regional businesses regularly contact The Arc Prince George’s County as a resource to fulfill their employment labor needs. A team of three to four employees with a dedicated Job Trainer from The Arc can work for your company at your location or designated contract site to fulfill a variety of tasks. These tasks can include but not limited to materials sorting or assembling, documents scanning or shredding, recycling, bulk mail, shipping and receiving, housekeeping, trash policing, or other operational functions. The supports from The Arc are at no cost to the employer.
The Arc has assisted workers with placements in variety types of work including but not limited to: food service, office support, custodial, retail stocking, and customer service. The employees are hired directly by employers and the supports from The Arc are at no cost to the employer.
