MHA believes that it is imperative to use data to better understand the patterns of mental health disparities in LGBTQ populations. As we continue to collect this data and bring attention to it, we can create an environment where providers, influential adults, peers and communities are aware of the unique needs and mental health risks to LGBTQ individuals and the intersectionality of age, race and other demographics with the sexual minority and gender diverse experience, and can use this knowledge to create and direct appropriate resources to better support those in need.
